About TYDTWDay

Take Your Dog To Work Day® Quick Facts:

  • Pet Sitters International (PSI) created Take Your Dog To Work Day® (TYDTWDay®) in 1999.
  • PSI created the day to celebrate the great companions dogs make and encourage their adoptions from local shelters, rescue groups and humane societies.
  • TYDTWDay® encourages employers to experience the joy of pets in the workplace on this special day and support their local pet community.
  • It is an annual event and is always celebrated on the Friday following Father's Day.
  • For cat lovers and others who cannot participate on TYDTWDay®, the entire week leading up to the day is Take Your Pet To Work Week™.

The next Take Your Dog To Work Day® is Friday, June 20, 2014.

On this day, thousands of pet lovers will work with their dogs to celebrate the 16th annual TYDTWDay®. Businesses that cannot participate on Friday—or wish to include other pets—are encouraged to plan a celebration any day during Take Your Pet To Work Week™, June 16-20.

How You Can Participate in Take Your Dog To Work Day®:

PSI invites your business to participate in this worthwhile event. Employers are encouraged to open their workplace to employees' four-legged friends on this one special day to celebrate the human-canine bond and promote pet adoptions.

If your company participates in PSI's Take Your Dog To Work Day®, please be sure to do it the right way: focus on the fun employees and employers have, celebrate the value of pets in the workplace, and encourage pet adoptions.

You need our permission before using TYDTWDay® events to advertise or promote specific products or services offered by your company. PSI encourages all employers and pet owners to observe and participate in the event, but commercial use of the event name or identity in advertising or promotion requires a license from PSI, for obvious reasons. Sponsorship opportunities are available for companies that are a good fit with the TYDTWDay mission.
