Featured TYDTWDay Participant: Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline

Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline, Inc. went to the dogs for the fifth straight year on June 25th.  Southern Star has been a participant in Pet Sitters International’s Take Your Dog to Work Day (TYDTWDay) since 2006 when employees requested the event be incorporated into the various unique employee activities enjoyed by the company.

Approximately 20 dogs were in attendance at this year’s event and enjoyed a day of belly rubs, treats and all the special attention they could take.

Each year Southern Star’s TYDTWDay team chooses various activities to raise money over the course of the event. This year’s activities included a sidewalk sale and silent auction in the week prior to the event.  A potluck lunch and cornhole tournament was held on the day of the event.  Additionally, owner/dog pet portraits were taken and the dogs participated in a Canine Competition with all dogs going home winners-with titles such as Most Lovable and Best Legs and treats to enjoy.

Southern Star invited the Owensboro/Daviess County Humane Society, SPARKY (Saving Paws Animal Rescue of Kentucky) and Greyhound Pets of America to come out and share information about their organizations and proper pet ownership tips with its over 160 local employees and used its event to inspire and encourage pet lovers to adopt animals from shelters and rescue groups and provide donations to these organizations.  The proceeds raised from the day’s event were generously matched by the company and divided equally among the invited charities.

Southern Star’s TYDTWD team is already planning for next year’s event with the hopes of making it bigger and better and to raise more funds for the local animal charities!
